About Client
Our customer is the German branch of one of the world's largest tourism companies. Based in Hannover, Germany, the company operates a comprehensive network of tour operators, travel agencies, hotels, airlines, and cruise lines, providing tailored travel experiences to millions of customers globally.
Business Challenge
Our customer aimed to test a new version of their Internet Booking Engine (IBE), a core digital product for direct customer bookings. Before moving forward with full-scale development, a prototype was needed for internal panel testing to evaluate user experience, design direction, and core functionality.
The primary challenge was to rapidly build interactive prototypes for both desktop and mobile platforms, reflecting the planned UI/UX while ensuring intuitive flow and responsive design. The client provided visual designs and explainer videos to support the development team in understanding the proposed user journey.
Process
Project Development:
Phase 1: 2 weeks Prototype development
The detailed scope of work connected with the testing of the new platform included
- CVS File Upload
- Automatic test case import
- Implementing a new optional test case parameter “Carrier”
- Sequential test case execution
- Opportunity to delete all test cases via a single button press
- Possibility to set test schedules for all test cases in one step
Final Product Overview
We were tasked with turning static designs and conceptual video demos into a fully clickable, functional prototype across desktop and mobile interfaces. The goal was to recreate the visual layout and to simulate a smooth, realistic booking experience.
Key Deliverables:
- High-fidelity, interactive desktop version of the booking engine
- Fully responsive mobile prototype with consistent functionality
- Implementation based on designs and workflows shared via Google Drive
- Seamless alignment with the company’s branding and booking flow logic
- Prepared for usability testing and stakeholder demonstration
The development team followed an iterative prototyping approach, ensuring early feedback loops and adjustments to meet TUI’s expectations in both form and functionality.
The resulting prototypes enabled the customer’s internal team to:
- Evaluate the booking experience across devices
- Gather user feedback from the panel testing phase
- Validate UI/UX decisions and identify optimization opportunities
- Accelerate the next phase of full product development
Business Effects for Client
- Faster Time to Market for design validation
- Effective Stakeholder Alignment with interactive demos
- Enhanced Clarity for developers ahead of production implementation
The prototype served as the foundation for the fully integrated booking engine across their digital properties.
We remained open for follow-up collaboration in front-end and back-end development should the project move into production. For this particular project, they proceeded with their own capabilities, but we cooperated on other projects with the same company.
